Summary: Iowa won its final four regular season games for a 6-5 record, earning an invitation to the inaugural Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, TX (Iowa lost to California, 37- 3). A 21-3 victory over Minnesota in the regular season finale gave Coach Hayden Fry career win No. 200. DT Mike Wells earned first team all-Big Ten honors for the second straight season.
