Matt Sherman           

HIGH SCHOOL: Matt Sherman attended St. Ansgar High School and lived in or near St. Ansgar, Iowa. He threw for a state record 6,809 yards and 77 TDs (62% completion rate) in his high school career (including 2,358 yards on 68% completion rate and 30 TDs his senior season). He also led the state in punting (42.1 yard average) as a sophomore. He earned first team all-state and all-conference honors his junior and senior season, including honorable mention All-American as a junior. He was named team captain as a sophomore, junior and senior, and led the state in passing his last 3 seasons. He broke 12 school records. He also averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds as a junior in basketball. He was the 3rd best QB recruit in the Big 10 region by Bluechip Illustrated.

COLLEGE: As a three-year starter, and co-captain in 1997, he was 420 for 714 (58.8% completion) for 6018 yards. He had 43 touchdown passes and won 24 games as a starter, including two bowl wins (1995 Sun Bowl and 1996 Alamo Bowl). In the 1995 season, he ranked 17th nationally in passing efficiency (135.6) and 34th in total offense (199.4), and ranked third in the Big Ten in passing efficiency and fourth in total offense. In 1996, he was named second team All-Big Ten quarterback.

PROFESSIONAL: He played for the Iowa Barnstormers in the Arena Football League (1999 & 2000).
