Kerry Cooks         

HIGH SCHOOL: Kerry Cooks attended Nimitz High School and lived in or near Irving, Texas. As a senior, he was named All-American and 1st team All-State in Texas Class 5A after leading the state in interceptions (9). He was also the team captain and MVP, and was twice named 1st team all-conference. He had 74 tackles, recovered two fumbles, had 9 knockdowns and 9 interceptions as a senior, and rushed for 1,100 yards and scored 17 TDs as a running back.

COLLEGE: As team captain at Iowa in 1997, he earned All-Big Ten honors as a defensive back.

PROFESSIONAL: He was selected in the fifth round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. He played nine games for the Vikings in 1998 and later spent time on the Packers, Falcons, and Jaguars rosters.

OTHER: He has been a long-time college football assistant coach, with stops at major programs (some with former Hawkeyes) such as Kansas State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Western Illinois. He also coached at Texas Tech, LSU and Rice. He He was inducted into the Irving Independent School District Hall of Fame Class of 2013.
