Marquis 'Bo' Porter          

Marquis 'Bo' Porter attended Weequahic High School and lived in Newark, New Jersey. He was an all-state performer in baseball, football and basketball. He played both baseball and football for the Hawkeyes, and earned All-Big Ten Conference honors in both sports. He led the 1994 Hawkeyes in interceptions with three, and recorded 69 tackles while starting all 11 games. He was named as one of the team’s three MVP’s for the season, and was named honorable mention All-Big Ten in 1994.

After Iowa, he pursued baseball instead of football. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 40th round of the 1993 Major League Baseball draft, and made his major-league debut with the Cubs. After finishing his playing career, he got into coaching, and was named manager of the Houston Astros in 2012 after two years with the Washington Nationals as third base coach.
