HIGH SCHOOL: Larry Blue attended Hempstead High School and lived in or near Hempstead, New York. He was a 3-year starter helping his team to a 29-1 record and two mythical state titles. He had 112 tackles, 8 sacks and 3 fumble recoveries as a senior. He was named USA Today honorable mention All-American, first team all-state, all-Long Island and Nassau County Lineman of the Year. He also lettered 4 years in lacrosse. He chose Iowa over Syracuse, Indiana and Rutgers.

COLLEGE: He played in every game and started 8 games in his true freshman season. He recovered a fumble in the end zone for a TD against Iowa State, and had a season-high 8 tackles. During his sophomore season in 1990, he had a knee surgery after playing just one game against Michigan State, and took a medical redshirt. As a redshirt sophomore in 1991, he started all 12 games for a 10-1-1 Iowa team, and had a season-high 6 tackles against BYU in the Holiday Bowl. In 1992, he led the team with 10 sacks, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble. He had 3 sacks against North Carolina State and Indiana. In his senior year, he was named one of the tri-captains along with Mike Wells and Paul Burmeister. After starting the season slow, he finished with 74 tackles (45 solo), 15 tackles for loss and 11 sacks. He was named team co-MVP and 2nd Team All-Big Ten. In his career, he finished with 129 solo tackles, 200 total tackles, 35 tackles for loss and 28 sacks.

PROFESSIONAL: He played for the Iowa Barnstormers from 1995 (inaugural season) to 2000, where he caught 6 passes for 92 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns.
