As a junior, he had 29 tackles and 3 interceptions. He helped lead his team to a 26-2 record as a junior and senior, including state runner-up. He also ran a 4.45 second 40-yard dash in track. He chose Iowa over Texas A&M, Baylor, USC and Michigan.
