Year signed with Iowa: 1992

HIGH SCHOOL: Ian Davis attended Community High School and lived in or near Pekin, Illinois. He was a highly-recruited offensive lineman, with 83% blocking efficiency as a junior, and 90% as a senior, allowing only one sack. He helped lead his team to a perfect 9-0 regular season and first conference championship in 25 years. He also played defensive end, and was named first team all-conference his junior and senior year. He was named to the Chicago Tribune 1st Team All-State team and Peoria Journal Star Area Player of the Year as a senior. He was a consensus 1st Team All-State selection. He was also named to the SuperPrep, USA Today and BlueChip All-America honorable mention teams. He chose Iowa over Notre Dame, Colorado, and Illinois.

COLLEGE: Prior to preseason camp at Iowa in 1992, he was involved in a serious biking accident that nearly took his life, but he made a full recovery to compete in an All-Star game. After redshirting in 1992, he saw limited action in 1993. He injured his foot prior to the 1994 season, and missed 4 games. He saw action in the offensive line as a back-up guard, and earned a starting position at offensive guard in season opening win over Northern Iowa in 1995.

OTHER: He was killed in a car accident in Pekin, Illinois.

Born 7/31/1974 and died on 2/12/2000 at the age of 25.
