Big Ten Champions and NCAA Regional Champions (Final Four)Big Ten Champions and NCAA Regional Champions (Final Four)

The "Fabulous Five" made up of Carl Cain, Bill Logan, Sharm Scheuerman, Bill Schoof and Bill Seaberg, ended the season as NCAA runners‑up, dropping an 83‑71 decision to No. 1‑ranked San Francisco. It was their second consecutive trip to the Final Four. Iowa lost its Big Ten opener before winning 13 consecutive games to take a second straight conference title. Cain was a first team All‑American and Logan led the team in scoring and rebounding.
