RECAP

Eric Ball, a second-string freshman tailback, scored four touchdowns and ran for 227 yards. Ronnie Harmon lost four fumbles in the first half, and dropped a TD pass later in the game.

UCLA also got surprise play from Matt Stevens, the substitute quarterback. He passed for one touchdown and scored on a half-yard quarterback sneak. Chuck Long completed 29 of 37 passes for 319 yards and a touchdown for Iowa, but was sacked for a total of 34 yards.
