Head Coach: Steve Alford

In Steve Alford's first game as Iowa coach, the Hawks upset #1 UConn. Jacob Jaacks led Iowa with 20 points. Dean Oliver battled in foul trouble, but finished with 14 points, three assists and two steals. The win helped avenge last year's Sweet 16 NCAA Tournament loss to the Huskies under coach Tom Davis. It was the first defeat of a #1 ranked team since Iowa upset UCLA in 1965.
