Wally Hilgenberg        

Wally Hilgenberg attended Wilton High School and lived in Wilton Junction, Iowa. He was named co-captain his senior year, and was named First Team All-Big Ten and Third Team All-American in 1963.

He was selected in the fourth round of the 1964 NFL Draft (48th overall) by the Lions, where he played 3 seasons. In 1968, he was traded from the Lions to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but was waived before ever playing a game in Pittsburgh. He was picked up by the Minnesota Vikings and played 12 seasons, including 4 Super Bowl appearances.

His older brother was Jerry Hilgenberg, who would coach him at Iowa. He would later be named Honorable Mention on the all-time University of Iowa football team.

Born 9/19/1942 and died on 9/23/2008 at the age of 66.
