Charles 'Poss' Parsons      Iowa Wikipedia 

Position(s): G, RB

Charles 'Poss' Parsons attended Iowa City High School and lived in Iowa City, Iowa.

COLLEGE: He was a halfback on the football team, a guard on the basketball team, and ran the 440-yard dash in track. He was twice chosen All-Big Ten Conference as a guard in basketball and a tailback in football. He also established the Big Ten record in the 440-yard dash, a mark that held up for considerable time. He was the first track athlete at Iowa to earn 9 varsity letters (3 track, 3 basketball and 3 football).

OTHER: He coached football at Trinity College in Sioux City until 1916 when he left to enter the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant and served throughout World War I in the Engineer Corps. He coached football at Colorado School of Mines and Colorado College from 1917 to 1921, where he succeeded with an 18-10-2 overall record (63%). He also coached basketball at Colorado College from 1919-1922, going 29-12 (71%), including 13-2 in 1922 to win the regular season MSAC conference championship.

He joined the Denver Post as sports editor, where he served for almost 20 years (1922-1941).

After his death, he was inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame (Class of 1982).

Born 5/3/1892 and died on 8/26/1942 at the age of 50.
