Bill Whisler        

Bill Whisler attended Yankton High School and lived in Yankton, South Dakota. He was all-state in football and basketball, and chose to attend Iowa. At Iowa, he was a three-year two-way starter. He caught 30 passes for 444 yards. He closed out his Iowa career with his best game ever, when he caught 8 passes for 130 yards against Notre Dame in a 42-21 victory.

After Iowa, he played in the North-South Shrine Game and the Optimist All-American Bowl. He was drafted in the ninth round by the Washington Redskins in the 1961 NFL Draft, but never made the team. Instead, he played 10 years as a defensive lineman in the CFL, mostly for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was a 4-time all-CFL selection, and he played on a Grey Cup championship team in 1962 during his rookie season.

He was later an assistant coach at Iowa in the 1970's.
