Matt Hughes          

HIGH SCHOOL: Matt Hughes attended Eastland High School and lived in or near Eastland, Texas. He made All-State as a running back as well as defensive back in 1993 and 1994.

COLLEGE: He was a 3-year starter at linebacker, and was named Academic All-Big 10 linebacker from 1995 to 1998, and was co-captain and honorable mention All-Big 10 in 1996 and 1998. He was invited and played in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.

PROFESSIONAL: He signed with the San Francisco 49ers after Iowa, but suffered through a shoulder injury. He played many years in different indoor football leagues.

OTHER: He became an assistant coach at the University of South Dakota. Then in 2013, he returned to the Iowa City region with his father to become the co-head coach at Clear Creek Amana High School.
