Tom Renn attended Lowell High School and lived in Lowell, Indiana. He was a 3-year varsity football letterman, and was named All-State, All-Area, and All-Conference his senior season, leading the region in rushing and scoring. He was also named the Calumet Region Offensive Player of the Year, and one of the top running back in the country. He also was a state champion wrestler.

At Iowa, he was a 3-year football letterman. During his freshman year, he scored the winning touchdown in a 7-6 upset victory at Penn State. He suffered a knee injury during the 1978 season.

Born 11/17/1957 and is 68 years old.
