RECAP

RB Geno Sessi touched the ball just three times in his college football debut, but etched his name into Hawkeye football lore with 3 TDs, including an impressive 80-yard TD run. He became then just the fourth Hawkeye to score three touchdowns in a single game. Bill Happel added 2 TDs (one pass reception and one run). Leading 7-0 in the first quarter, the Hawks added 20 points in the 2nd quarter and 20 points in the 3rd quarter, taking a commanding 47-7 lead into the 4th quarter. They racked up 648 yards of offense (320 yards rushing, 328 yards passing). In all, the Hawkeyes scored ten touchdowns, eight extra points and a safety in the blowout win.

Due to shifting personnel, 4 different kickers were used in the game. Bob Prescott was 2-3 on PATs (one blocked). Alex Karras was 4-4 on PATs, while Hugh Drake was 1-2, and Olen Treadway was 1-1.
