Aaron Greving attended Ames High School and lived in Ames, Iowa. He was named Super Prep all-American and selected Iowa Player of the Year by prep football coaches, and named to elite all-state team as a senior. He was a first team all-conference for three straight seasons. He rushed 584 times for 4,707 yards and 48 TDs, an average of 8.1 yards per carry. He won the state 100-meter dash as sophomore and junior (11.23 as a junior) and Drake Relays title in that event as a junior. He was named first team all-state selection in baseball as a sophomore and junior.
