John Elwood 'Waddy' Davis attended Correctionville High School and lived in Correctionville, Iowa.
COLLEGE: He played halfback and was a drop-kick kicking specialist, and claims to hold a record for the most number of field goals in one season (17) in 1915. He kicked 3 FGs in a 9-6 victory over Northwestern in 1915. His longest kick was 45 yards. He was named to the All-Western Conference team for two seasons, and was named team captain for the 1917 season.
OTHER: After coaching high school, he spent 16 years at Washington University in Saint Louis. He returned to the U of Iowa to coach football and track for 25 years (1935-1960).
Born 9/18/1892 and died on 1/9/1974 at the age of 81.
