Jolette Law        

HIGH SCHOOL: Jolette Law attended Wilson High School and lived in or near Florence, South Carolina. She was a three-time Kodak All-American (honorable mention All-American USA Today), four-time Athlete of the Year. She was a four-year letterwinner in basketball, and she earned all-state honors from The Greenville News and the South Carolina Coaches Association in both her upperclass years, and was named a four-time all-conference pick, earning the conference MVP honors as a senior after averaging 23 points. 7 rebounds, 6 steals, and 4 assists as a senior. She finished with career records in points scored (1,812) and assists (552). She was also an excellent track athlete, a four-year letterwinner and state champion in the long jump. She broke the conference records in the long jump (19 ft 1/2 inches) and triple jump (38 ft, 5 3/4 inches). She had the only jersey retired at her school (both boys and girls).

COLLEGE: She was a Kodak District V All-American in 1990, along with being a first-team All-Big Ten selection 1989 and 1990. She was part of four Big Ten regular-season champions and four NCAA tournament teams, including two that went to the regional finals. She scored 1,137 career points. She was named to the team representing the US at the 1988 William Jones Cup competition in Taipei, Taiwan, where they won the Silver Medal.

PROFESSIONAL: She was a Harlem Globetrotter from 1991 to 1994 and was the only female team member, completing three worldwide tours with the team. As an ambassador of goodwill with the Globetrotters, she coordinated several basketball seminars and clinics in addition to her on-court performances. Her picture appeared on Wheaties cereal boxes with her Globetrotter teammates.

OTHER: She went on to be an assistant coach on C. Vivian Stringer’s staff at Rutgers from 1995-2007, including the last four seasons as associate head coach. She was head coach at Illinois from 2007-12, an assistant at Tennessee from 2012-17, and an assistant at South Carolina from 2017 to the present (2024). She was inducted into the 2023 UI Athletics Hall of Fame. Her hometown of Florence, S.C. celebrated "Jolette Law Day" on Dec. 22, 1990, when she was presented the key to the city. She was inducted into the Wilson HS Hall of Fame, and the Florence (South Carolina) Hall of Fame.
