Mark Bortz attended Pardeeville High School and lived in Pardeeville, Wisconsin.

He was a four-year letterman from 1979-82 and earned first team All-Big Ten honors as a junior and senior, and was a second team All-American in his final season. He was named team captain as a senior, and ended his career with 231 tackles. He was selected for the East-West Shrine game.

He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 1983 NFL Draft and enjoyed a long and successful career in the NFL (1983-94). He made the move from defense to offense and was named to the Pro Bowl in 1988 and 1990. The Bears won the Super Bowl following the 1985 season, and set a Bears record with 13 playoff appearances. He played in 171 games for the Bears, starting 155 of those contests. He was named to Iowa’s All-Time Team in 1989.

Born 2/12/1961 and is 64 years old.
