Mike Saunders          

Mike Saunders attended Milton High School and lived in Milton, Wisconsin. After playing receiver as a junior and catching five passes for 99 yards in the 1991 Rose Bowl, he switched from receiver to running back his senior year and ran for 1,022 yards. He tied a school record when he became the fifth Hawkeye to score four touchdowns in one game against Indiana. He finished his college career with a 103-yard game in the 1991 Holiday Bowl and was one of eight Hawkeyes named first-team all-Big Ten.

After Iowa, he was drafted in the 10th Round of the 1992 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He ended up in the CFL, where he was named CFL All-Star in 1995. He retired on May 8, 2000, as the Saskatchewan Roughriders second all-time leading rusher with 872 carries for 4,396 yards and 39 touchdowns. Over eight CFL seasons, he rushed 1,160 times for 5,780 yards and 39 touchdowns.
