Gary Grouwinkel

Gary Grouwinkel attended Wapello High School and lived in Columbus Junction, Iowa. He was one of only a few players that played in two Rose Bowls (1957 and 1959).

He became head football coach at West Branch High School in Iowa. He coached high school ball until 1964, then spent a dozen years as an assistant coach at five different colleges, including Iowa (Ray Nagel) and Northwestern. In 1982, he got back into coaching at York Community High School in Elmhurst, Illinois.

His grandson is former Iowa snapper Austin Spiewak.

Born 11/7/1936 and is 88 years old.
