Hugh Drake       

Hugh Drake attended Shenadoah High School and lived in Shenadoah, Iowa.

COLLEGE: He was an offensive lineman that helped Iowa to two Rose Bowl victories (1957 and 1959), one of only 13 players to appear in both Rose Bowls. During the 1957 season he was a reserve, then started at offensive guard in 1959. The 1958 team earned a share of the national title, and his three teams combined to win 24 games, losing only one game in all 3 seasons.

PROFESSIONAL: He played one season for the British Columbia Lions in the Canadian Football League before embarking on a coaching career.

OTHER: He began coaching at Upper Iowa University before coaching at Estherville, Grundy Center, Des Moines East and Des Moines Lincoln High Schools.

Born 12/5/1936 and died on 9/16/2024 at the age of 87.
