Bakari Evelyn          

Bakari Evelyn attended Hillcrest Academy High School and lived in Mesa, Arizona. He played as a senior for Hillcrest (Ariz.) Academy, averaging 25.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. He spent his first three high school seasons at Southfield (Mich.) Christian, helping his team to 73-7 record and three consecutive Class D state titles while averaging 17.4 points and 4.4 assists per game as a junior. He was named first-team all-state as a sophomore.

Prior to Iowa, he started his college career at Nebraska and played one season in 2015-16, then transferred to Valparaiso for two seasons (2017-19) after sitting out one season. He was a graduate transfer to Iowa for the 2019-20 season. He averaged 3.7 points, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 rebounds on the season. He had a season-high 15 points and three 3-point field goals in a 77-70 win over Cincinnati.
