In his first career start at QB, Jackson Stratton drove the Hawks down the fireld twice behind strong running from Kaleb Johnson. He finished with 10 of 14 passing for 76 yards. But a Kamari Moulton fumble deep in Maryland territory ended one of the drives. The Hawks settled for a FG on the 2nd drive, leading 3-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. Johnson broke the season record for most rushing TDs in a season with his 21st TD, putting Iowa up 10-0 in the 2nd quarter. Drew Stevens added a 53-yard FG near the end of the half, and a 50-yard FG and a 49-yard FG in the 3rd quarter. Maryland answered with 2 TDs to make the score 19-13, but Molton redeemed himself with a 68-yard TD run with 9 minutes remaining. Iowa rushed for 273 yards on the day. The Hawks sealed the game with interceptions on back-to-back possessions (TJ Hall and Jay Higgins). Stevens tied a school record with his 5th FG of the game.
