RECAP

Joe Laws ran for a 32-yard TD late in the 4th quarter to lead the Hawks to their first conference win since a 9-7 win over Minnesota in 1929, and first win over Northwestern since 1923. They got revenge after being soundly beaten last year, 44-6.

The Hawks rushed for 242 yards, with Dick Crayne accounting tor 129 yards. He also ran 63 yards in the final drive to set up Laws heroics. The Wildcats threatened to score, driving down to Iowa's 18-yard line, but Zud Schammel made a huge interception to end the threat. Iowa fumbled 3 times, and only forced one Wildcat fumble, which made the game much closer.
