Reserve Oliver Sansen got the Hawks on the board in the 2nd period with a 15-yard TD run. Oran Pape sealed the victory with a thrilling play with only 4 minutes left in the game. The Hawks faked a drop kick on 4th down, but instead handed off the ball to Pape, who raced around the end for a 20-yard TD run, catching the Badger defense by surprise. Willis Glassgow made a key interception late in the game to stop a long Badger drive, and nearly returned it for a TD before getting tripped up. The Iowa defense only allowed one successful pass completion in 17 attempts.
After the game, hundreds of Iowa fans stormed out on the field towards the goal posts to tear it down, but some fist fights broke out, and Wisconsin fans circled the goal posts to protect them. Police stated that it resembled near riot conditions. The Iowa fans were hoping to return the favor from the year before, when Wisconsin fans tore down and took the goal posts back to Madison. Details about the fight are in the Daily Iowan article.
