Willis Glassgow      Iowa Wikipedia 

Position(s): RB, K, P

Willis Glassgow attended Shenadoah High School and lived in Shenadoah, Iowa. He was an all-state quarterback in 1922. He originally enrolled at Nebraska in 1925, but later transferred to Iowa and played halfback, kicker and punter from 1927-1929.

At Iowa, he scored Iowa's first ever touchdown in Iowa Stadium on a 31-yard run. In 1929, we was named the Big Ten's Most Valuable Player, and was selected as a first-team All-American. He was named Iowa's MVP in 1928 and 1929. He was also the shortstop on the Iowa baseball's 1927 Big Ten Championship team.

He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals for baseball, but played two seasons of professional football in the National Football League for the Portsmouth Spartans in 1930 and the Chicago Cardinals in 1931.

Born 4/21/1907 and died on 11/1/1959 at the age of 52.

Player of the Year: Big Ten MVP (1929) All American: 1st Team (1929) U of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame
