Duane Banks  

He played professional baseball in 1964. He is the winningest coach in Iowa history and served as Iowa's head baseball coach for 28 years from 1970-1997. He joined the Iowa staff as an assistant coach in 1969, and took over as head coach halfway through the 1970 season. He led the Hawkeyes to 3 Big Ten conference championships (1972, 1974, 1990), and was named Big Ten Coach of the Year in 1990. He led Iowa to its only College World Series appearance in 1972. From 1970 to 1990, he had 20 consecutive winning seasons. He coached six All-Americans, 31 All-Big Ten selections, and 57 players signed professional contracts. The baseball field was named after him in 2001.

He is a 2011 University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee, 1999 Northern Colorado Hall of Fame Inductee, 1992 ABCA Hall of Fame Inductee, and 1990 Big 10 and District Coach of the Year.
