RECAP

The Hawks were down early 28-12 and trailed by 12 at halftime. They still trailed 53-43 with eight and a half minutes left in regulation time, Then leading scorer Cindy Haugejorde fouled out. But the scrappy Hawkeyes put the pressure on, and tied up the game in the final four seconds of regulation on a clutch basket by Linda Land, who drove through a host of ISU players. It was the first overtime game in Iowa women's basketball history.

In overtime, Sue Beckwith's 15-foot jumper with 3:48 remaining gave Iowa a 67-65 edge, but ISU reeled off nine straight points to seal the victory. Cindy Haugejorde led the Hawks with 22 points and 11 rebounds, with Beckwith adding 11 points.

Another key to the game was the loss of starting center Vicki Burnham, who was averaging over 15 points and 10 rebounds per contest. She was declared ineligible by the AlAW on Thursday due to transfer credit issues from last season when she played at New Mexico State.
