Oklahoma took a 10-point lead into the 3rd quarter, and seemed to be in control, but the Hawks fought back when McKinley Davis narrowed the score to 62-60 from the free throw line with 1 minute remaining. Kenneth Buckles tied it at 62, but Oklahoma hit one free throw, and recovered a loose ball under the Iowa basket to win the game.
