Jeff Horner scored 15 points and became the all-time leading assist record holder in Iowa history, passing Andre Woolridge (575). Greg Brunner scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Erek Hansen had a major role in the win with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and three blocked shots. It was the 8th victory over a ranked team this season. The victory is a school-record 16 straight at home, and the first time Iowa reached 20 regular-season wins under head coach Steve Alford.

Iowa sits two games ahead of second-place Ohio State in the win column, with only four contests remaining. The Hawkeyes haven’t won the Big Ten top spot since tying for the title in 1979.

Steve Alford He's just a special player. He's going to go down as one of the great players to play in an Iowa uniform. Of all the great guards and great players who have played here, he's the career assist leader, and he's still got a lot of games left. The night he breaks the assist record, it might have been his best defensive effort. I thought he did a terrific job on Shannon Brown. He battled through.
