RECAP

Oregon dominated the Hawkeyes, holding them to 26 yards rushing on 28 carries. Oregon amassed 435 yards on offense, and had starters back at nearly every position, while Iowa had 26 players playing in their first college game.

Tom Poholsky was 8 for 19 with two interceptions and underthrew several receivers. Matt Rodgers replaced him halfway through the 3rd quarter with the score 38-0. He finished the day 12 of 20 passes for 167 yards. He took Iowa 85 yards in eight plays, ending with a short TD run.

The loss was the worst opening defeat in school history.
