RECAP

It was the first visit to Iowa Stadium for a west coast team, and it didn't go well for the Hawks. UCLA were outgained in totaI net yardage 447 to 275, but managed to force 5 Hawkeye fumbIes, including 3 in the 3rd quarter for touchdowns. Iowa scored first in the second quarter, but UCLA bounced back with two touchdowns. The 2nd score resulted from a 99-yard march near haIftime. UCLA led 14-12 at half. They led 34-12 before Iowa scored twice to cut the lead to 34-25, but UCLA added another score to complete the victory.

Iowa made 24 first downs, and held UCLA to only 9. They also rushed for 245 yards on the ground, and held UCLA to only 88 yards rushing, but turnovers were the big difference.
