Head Coach: Tom Davis

RECAP

Dr. Tom Davis's last win as a Hawkeye basketball coach, and last Sweet Sixteen appearance in recent times. Iowa was a #5 seed, and Arkansas was a #4 seed. Arkansas jumped out to an early lead. Early in the second half, Iowa was down 47-34 and the game looked to be getting out of hand. Kent McCausland nailed 3 straight 3-pointers, and the Hawks went on a 16-0 run to take a 50-47 lead. He ended the half with 5 3-pointers and 17 points.

Dean Oliver also had 17 points and took over at the end of the game with great passing and scoring. Iowa forced 23 turnovers to offset the 24 turnovers it committed.

PLAYER GAME QUOTES

Kent McCausland We’re going through everything and they say, ‘You know what? We’re not going to slow down. We’re going to run with these guys.' I remember thinking to myself, ‘I don’t know if I’m the guy you want out there on the floor all the time if you’re just going to be running with these guys.’
-- Kent McCausland
Discussing the strategy going into the game against Arkansas and their "Forty Minutes of Hell," as stated in an interview in 2016 on HawkCentral

COACH GAME QUOTES

Tom Davis It’s so deep, I don’t know if I can do it justice. The bigger questions I’ll try to answer when this is over, and it can be over at any moment. It was almost over today.
-- Tom Davis
When asked to describe his feelings about his retirement at the end of the season.
