Iowa used a 12-4 run at the start of the second half to tie the game, 49-49, and took the lead at 54-53 Pryce Sandfort's 3-pointer gave Iowa a 73-71 lead with under 4 minutes remaining. Iowa scored with 14 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to 2, and got the ball back with a chance to win, but Josh Dix's 3-pointer was blocked to end the game.
Even Brauns scored an Iowa career-high with 15 points (previous was 6 points). Payton Sandfort led the Hawks with 25 points, and Dix added 19 points.
