Harold Mike Howard  

In 1907, he held the heavyweight champion of Denmark, including the World Amateur light heavyweight crown and won 4 straight world championships from 1908-1911. He was also on the Olympic water polo team 1920.

For 3 decades, he was the wrestling coach at Iowa. He had 12 conference champions, 3 national champions, 12 individual all-Americans, and his teams finished in first division of Big Ten 14 times, with an overall record 90-69-11. The Mike Howard Award is presented annually to Iowa’s most valuable wrestler.

Born 1/4/1884 and died on 8/8/1959 at the age of 75.
