Iowa's high-powered offense unleashed a stunning passing attack. Emlen Tunnell scored both of Iowa's touchdown on spectacular runs in the second half, but he also connected on 4 of 6 passes (all in the 2nd half) to establish himself as one of the most potent passers In the league.

Probably the most unexpected factor of the game was the crushing play of the defense. Led by guards Russ Benda, Dave Day, Bill Cay and Jim Cozad.
