Summary: Iowa won the Big Ten West conference and finished the season 10-4, with a 7-1 finish in the conference. But the offense was again one of the worst in the country. They faced three ranked opponents this season - Penn State, Michigan and Tennessee - and lost all three games by a combined score of 92-0.

Key injuries to QB Cade McNamara, tight end Luke Lachey and Erick All, and DB Cooper DeJean hurt the team strength.

Tory Taylor was named First-team All-Big Ten for the third time, Eddleman–Fields Punter of the Year for the second time, a Unanimous First-team All-American, and the 2023 Ray Guy Award winner as the nation's most outstanding punter. Despite missing the final four games due to a season-ending injury, junior defensive back Cooper DeJean was named First-team All-Big Ten for the second time, Tatum-Woodson Defensive Back of the Year, Rodgers-Dwight Return Specialist of the Year, and a Unanimous First-team All-American. Defensive coordinator Phil Parker won the Broyles Award as the nation’s top assistant coach in college football. Due to the offensive struggles, coordinator Brian Ferentz was fired, but allowed to finish out the season.
