HIGH SCHOOL: Andre Jackson attended Thornton Township High School and lived in or near Dixmoor, Illinois. He was a team captain and lettered as a linebacker, earning all-conference and all-city honors as a senior. He joined the Iowa program as a walk-on, as he was lightly recruited due to a knee injury.

He was put on scholarship the second semester of his freshman year. He was also named to the Football News’ Rookie All-America team and was the first freshman in the nation to twice earn Lineman of the Week honors that season by the wire services. Along with leading the team in tackles as a true freshman, he also led the Hawkeyes in tackles as a senior, with 126 stops in 1975.

He earned second team All-Big Ten recognition in both 1972 and 1975. He served as one of two team captains as a senior and was named the team Most Valuable Player following that season. The four-year letterman ranks second with 465 career tackles, just behind Larry Station (492).
