HIGH SCHOOL: Howard Hodges attended Copperas Cove High School and lived in or near Copperas Cove, Texas. He earned honorable mention all-state honors as defensive end and outside linebacker, and was first team all-district as a senior and second team as a junior. His career totals include 138 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and 16 QB sacks, and had three caused fumbles and two fumble recoveries. During his senior season, he recorded 85 tackles, 11 for loss and nine sacks as a team captain and defensive MVP. He also lettered in basketball and track.

COLLEGE: At Iowa, he totaled 142 tackles, 21 sacks and 28 pass break-ups. He was honored in 2002 with a first-team All-Big Ten selection and a coaches’ appreciation award, and 2nd Team All-Big Ten his senior season (2003).

PROFESSIONAL: He signed with the San Diego Chargers as a free agent in 2004, and later played in the CFL and Arena Football leagues (Nashville Kats, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Calgary Stampeders). He won a Grey Cup in the CFL with the Stampeders in 2008.
