Steve Krafcisin attended St Laurence High School and lived in Chicago, Illinois.

COLLEGE: He committed to North Carolina out of high school, and was a part of their 1977 Final Four team that reached the Championship game (lost to Marquette). He averaged 2.9 points per game in his freshman season.

He later transferred to Iowa to help lead them to the Final Four in 1980, becoming one of only a few NCAA players to accomplish the feat. The three-year starter earned third-team all-Big Ten honors in 1980 with 6.4 rebounds per game, and ranked third on the team with 12.3 points per game. He also led Iowa in rebounding and field goal percentage in 1981.

He had a standout performance against eventual national champion Indiana in 1981, scoring 18 points and six rebounds in Iowa's 78-65 win, resulting in a season sweep over the Hoosiers for the first time since the 1969-70.

PROFESSIONAL: He was the women’s basketball coach at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) for 17 seasons and the program’s winningest coach. He had a career record of 349-179, including ten 20-win seasons.
