Les Jepsen      North Dakota Wikipedia LinkedIn Twitter

Position(s): C
Year signed with Iowa: 1985

Les Jepsen attended Bowbells High School and lived in Bowbells, North Dakota. He averaged 27 points, 18.5 rebounds and 5 blocks per game, but despite his accolades and nearly 7-foot height, he didn't receive much interest from schools, partly due to his remote hometown location (near Canada and Montana border). He selected the Hawks over Texas A&M, Oregon and Gonzaga.

After redshirting, he added strength and greatly improved his game over the years. After averaging 2.5 points and 3.1 rebounds in his first three seasons, he had a breakout senior season, becoming the team MVP in 1990 by leading the Hawks in points (14.9 per game) and rebounds (10 per game). During that season, he sank two foul shots with six seconds remaining in overtime to upset #6 Michigan, and he had a critical steal late in the game, and scored the game-winning basket with 2 seconds remaining in a 69-67 upset victory over #10 Illinois. He finished his Iowa career with 606 points, 511 rebounds, and 63 blocks, and was named 3rd Team All-Big Ten.

He was drafted by the Golden State Warriors in the 2nd round of the 1990 NBA Draft, and played 52 games total with the Warriors (1990-91) and the Sacramento Kings (1991-92).

Born 6/24/1967 and is 57 years old.

All Conference: 3rd Team (1990) Drafted Round 2 by Golden State Warriors in 1990
