Earl Douthitt        

Earl Douthitt attended John Hay High School and lived in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a three-year letter winner in football and basketball, and named to the Ohio All-State team his senior year.

He was the sole Hawkeye on the All-Big Ten team, and earned Honorable Mention All-American honors, and set a school record with 43 kickoff returns. He averaged 24.6 yards per kick return as a sophomore, which ranked seventh in the nation. In 1973, he set an NCAA record for kick return yards, and led the team in interceptions. As a defensive back, Douthitt recorded 221 career tackles, which ranked seventh in school history at the time.

He was a 7th round pick of the Chicago Bears in 1975. He was cut in training camp, but was re-signed at mid-season that year and played nine games on special teams and returning kicks. He later signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but didn't make the team.

Born 9/8/1952 and died on 10/29/2013 at the age of 61.
