Don Dobrino       

Don Dobrino attended Mt. Olive High School and lived in Mt. Olive, Illinois. He played quarterback in high school, but switched to running back at Iowa.

He rushed 4 times for 64 yards and had a key interception that set up a touchdown in the 1957 Rose Bowl victory over Oregon State.

He was drafted in the 10th round by the Washington Redskins in the 1957 NFL Draft, but he eventually pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates organization from 1957-62.

After his professional career, he coached for five seasons at DePue High School beginning in 1965 before spending 27 years at Gillespie High School and 13 additional years at Mount Olive High School. He was named to the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He coached into his 80's, and passed away after battling cancer.

Born 2/3/1935 and died on 7/4/2021 at the age of 86.
