HIGH SCHOOL: Alvaro Folgueiras attended DME Academy High School and lived in or near Daytona Beach, Florida. He was originally from Malaga, Spain and played for Unicaja Baloncesto before spending one season in Florida. He averaged 8.6 points and 7.6 rebounds, and saw action for U18 Next Generation Select Team in the Adidas Next Generation Tournament. He committed to Robert Morris.

COLLEGE: At Robert Morris during the 2024-25 season, he was the Horizon League Player of the Year after averaging 14.1 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He also shot 41.3% from 3-point range. He transferred to Iowa for the 2025-26 season.
