After the season, he announced he would enter the 2009 NFL Draft. Greene was the only player that year to rush for over 100 yards in every game. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the third round (65th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft.

He played 6 seasons in the NFL, and rushed for over 1000 yards in both 2011 and 2012. He ended up with the Tennessee Titans for his last two seasons, but didn't get much playing time. In his NFL career, he rushed for 24 touchdowns and 4,110 yards, averaging 4.1 yards per carry.
