HIGH SCHOOL: Jackson Stratton attended La Jolla High School and lived in or near Mission Bay, California. He was 312-of-515 passes in his career for 4,469 yards and 52 touchdowns with 19 interceptions, and he rushed for 248 yards and seven touchdowns. He was a three-star composite recruit, and signed with Colorado State.

COLLEGE: He played in four games as a true freshman, where he completed 4-of-17 passes for 78 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions, but was able to redshrt. He did not play as a redshirt freshman in 2023.

He transferred to Iowa for the 2024 season as a walk-on and will have three seasons of eligibility.

Against UCLA in 2024, he replaced an injured Brendan Sullivan in the 3rd quarter, finishing 3/6 for 28 yards and leading the Hawks to a TD drive in his first action as a Hawkeye. He played in three games in 2024, starting two games and winning both games. He completed 10-of-14 passes for 76 yards in 29-13 win at Maryland, and then completed eight-of-15 passes for 115 yards (career-high long of 72 yards) and one touchdown in 13-10 win over Nebraska. He completed 21-of-35 passes for 219 yards for the season.

After the 2025 season, he entered the transfer portal.
