HIGH SCHOOL: Katie Abrahamson attended Washington High School and lived in or near Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a 1985 USA Today first team high school all-American after leading her team to a second-place finish at the first-ever five-on-five Iowa state championship. She averaged 20.3 points and 8 4 rebounds per game as a senior, and scored 2,391 career points and graduated with 15 school records. She was a two-time prep first team all-state selection. She was also an outstanding swimmer, leading her team to the 1985 state swimming title and was an all-state swimmer as a junior and a senior.

She signed with Georgia out of high school.

COLLEGE: At Georgia, the Bulldogs finished #2 in the nation during her freshman year, and she started her sophomore year in 29 of 32 games, but lost to Iowa in the Regional Semifinals in 1987. She averaged 6.9 points and 3.9 rebounds during her two seasons at Georgia, shooting 46% from the field and 81% from the line

With two years of eligibility remaining, she decided to transfer closer to home, and joined the Hawkeye squad in the fall of 1987. She sat out the 1987-88 season.

In the 1988-89 season, she scored a season high 14 points against Grambling State in the Kansas Dial Soap Classic, and grabbed a season best seven rebounds in the championship contest with Kansas.

She finished her Iowa career with 171 rebounds, 45 assists, 37 steals, 18 blocks and 379 points.

OTHER: She has been a long-time basketball coach, earning 12 NCAA tournament appearances with stops at Missouri State, Albany, Central Florida and Georgia.
