HIGH SCHOOL: Lynn Kennedy attended Valisburg High School and lived in or near Irvington, New Jersey. She earned all-county and all-state honors as a senior after averaging 37 points per game , and had a four-year scoring average of 27.3 points per game.

COLLEGE: In the 1983-84 season, she led Iowa in rebounding with a 7.6 average per game, and averaged 9 points per game (2nd on the team).

In the 1984-85 season, she averaged 6.9 rebounds per game, and averaged 8.3 points per game (both 2nd on the team). She scored over 20 points twice that season (21 at Purdue and 22 vs Nebraska). Her performance against Nebraska set a career high of 22 points and 16 rebounds, while adding one assist and three steals

In the 1985-86 season, she was named to the all-Tournament team at the inaugural Amana Hawkeye Classic in Nov 1985. She started 28 of 29 games, and had 4 double-doubles. She was 2nd in team scoring with 12.1 points per game, and averaged 6.8 rebounds per game. She set a career high with 23 points vs Northwestern on 10 of 13 field goals. She had a season high 8 steals against Drake, ending the season with 79 steals. She was named honorable mention All-Big Ten.
